Danielle van Vree (1969) is a visual artist, director and writer, who studied in Amsterdam at the Theatre school, the Rijksakademie and the Schrijversvakschool. Her work is interdisciplinair and moves between the body, space and narrative. Through film, performance, text and drawing, she explores the tension between fiction and reality, presence and absence, places where something can exists and not exist at the same time. She engages in dialogues with the world around her, exploring our relationship with others and the stories we share within those relationships.

In 2025 she developed the project Vrouwen van de Stille Generatie together with visual artist Dominique Panhuysen, in which they portrayed 25 women, born between 1928 and 1945, through photographs, text and drawings. The project resulted in six exhibitions and a book. In the same year, she created Broos, a performance about transience, for the exhibition Frail/not Frail at Artphy in Onstwedde. Her films include De lijnen waarlangs wij lopen (2024), Second Hand Stories (2023), and Legacy (Watou22).
