WRITING

Since graduating from the Amsterdam Theatre School in 1995, I have written the texts for all my own performances. My writing is rooted in my practice as a performer and is closely connected to places and stories that inspire my work. At the same time, my texts explore philosophical questions around how we perceive one another, what it means to be present, and how we relate to the world around us.

Since 2010, I have also worked as a freelance performer and writer for 5eKwartier (Titia Bouwmeester), a theatre company specialising in documentary site-specific performances. For the company, I write texts based on interviews, transforming personal stories, perspectives and experiences into theatrical material. In 2023, I wrote Grondproeven, a performance exploring the transition taking place within arable farming.

Since 2020, my writing practice has also expanded to include poetry and essays.
