Act of Observation is a one-to-one performance about perception and our relationship with nature. In Western thought, the human subject is positioned in opposition to nature. In Eastern thought, subject and object are not seen as separate; instead, there is a sense of unity between the inner experience of the individual and the natural world—the world beyond ourselves.

The space is enclosed, with only a large window left open. The performer and spectator each sit on a small stool facing the window. Holding a microphone, the performer speaks softly to the spectator without making physical contact. Her voice can be heard by the spectator through headphones.
