GROND HOUDING (2023)

In collaboration with artist Aart Jilesen, I developed Performing Space in 2018: a temporary space for performances that invites encounters and explores the relationship between humans and their environment.
For the exhibition Verteerbaar at Artphy, I developed the performance Grond Houding. As part of the project, I spoke with, among others, soil philosopher Maarten Meijer about our changing relationship with the ground and what this shift means for our existence as human beings. Have we become ungrounded, losing our connection to the soil beneath our feet? And how might we reconnect with what supports us?
In Grond Houding, I explore these questions through text and movement, together with the audience, inviting us to reflect on our relationship with—and our position upon—the ground.
