A woman sings a song to her husband. He stands close beside her, his gaze distant, his mouth slightly open. She sings “Are You Lonesome Tonight?” into his mouth, as if breathing life into him. With this work, Danielle van Vree explores the lovers’ dependence on one another and the farewell inherent in every encounter.
