A documentary performance project set in the former Saint Nicholas monastery and chapel, once connected to the Saint Nicholas Lyceum on the Zuidas. The old lyceum is being demolished, the future of the former monastery is uncertain, and the chapel is awaiting a new purpose. As a result, the architectural and social coherence that once connected the three buildings will be lost forever. In this performance, that coherence is brought back to life one final time.

For the performance I collect memories, stories, images, and events through research and interviews with former users of the buildings — the Priests of the Sacred Heart, former students, and former teachers — which form the basis of the performance’s script. Through sound, image, text, and movement, the lived history of the buildings is brought into the now-empty spaces and reconstructed by six performers and the audience as a living part of collective memory.

In this immersive theatre experience, we move through the buildings as if between fiction and reality, between past and present.
