For Frail | Not Frail in Artphy, Onstwedde (NL), I developed Broos: a performance about the power of breath and the interplay between inside and outside, presence and absence, life and death. Audio recordings of statements about death, spoken by women over eighty, are combined with a movement duet. In the performance, together with the audience, I explore the tension between space and time: how does the finite relate to the moment? In the slowness of the performer’s movements, the audience reflects on their own memories and expectations.
